Trivandrum: Shri Sachinder Mohan Sharma IRSME and Shri Yashpal Singh Tomar IRSSE have taken charge as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad Divisions respectively under Southern Railway. Shri Sharma succeeds Shri R Mukund IRSME as the TVC DRM while Shri Tomar took over from Shri Trilok Kothari.
Prior to this, Sharma was the Group General Manager (Mechanical) at Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) with Additional Charge of Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari and Dean of Heavy Haul Institute DFCCIL, Noida. He also served as the Sr. Professor in Management at the National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara; Director, Traction in Railway Board and in various capacities in Northern Railway.
As Group GM, DFCCIL, he achieved Technology induction through Hot box detectors and provision of a machine vision inspection system through an MoU with IISC Bangalore. He also represented Indian Railways & DFCCIL at SAHHA Conference in Johannesburg and presented a paper ‘Managing Operations and Policy Issues pertaining to Rolling Stock, Crew and Disaster Management’. He has published research papers on Railway Technology in reputed journals and books.
An officer belonging to the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) 1991 Batch, he has done his Masters in Public Administration from Lee Kuan Yee School of Public Policy, Singapore and is a Chevening CRISP Scholar from the University of Oxford, UK. He is pursuing PhD(PT) in Strategic Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode.
Prior to joining as DRM PGT, Shri Tomar was on deputation as Group General Manager in RailTel Corporation of India Ltd (RCIL), Secunderabad.
Tomar is an officer of the IRSSE Cadre (Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers) of the 1991 batch. He has diverse experience of working in Projects and Construction in various capacities in Central Railway and South Central Railway, RDSO (Research Designs and Standards Organisation) and IRISET (Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications).
