Trivandrum: As part of the Railway Board’s policy to strengthen onboard emergency preparedness and passenger safety, an Advanced Firefighting Training Programme for onboard staff was conducted in association with Kerala Fire & Rescue Services.
The specialised training programme combined classroom sessions with practical demonstrations, providing participants with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in fire prevention, firefighting techniques, use of firefighting equipment and emergency response procedures in train operations.
The programme organised at Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram today witnessed active participation from Ticket Checking Officials of the two major Ticket Checking Depots. A total of 65 staff members attended the intensive training session.
The initiative forms part of a structured capacity-building programme aimed at covering all onboard Ticket Checking Officials across the Division. With the completion of four such training sessions, a total of 255 staff members have already been trained, significantly enhancing the Division’s preparedness to handle fire-related emergencies onboard trains.
The collaboration with Kerala Fire & Rescue Services has enabled participants to gain valuable practical exposure and improve their confidence in responding swiftly and effectively during emergencies.
Thiruvananthapuram Division remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety for passengers and railway personnel. Continuous training and skill development programmes are being undertaken to ensure that frontline staff remain well-equipped to safeguard passengers, railway assets and train operations.
