Trivandrum: In continuation with the efforts of Indian Railways in making Railway services more accessible and affordable to the common man, a fully unreserved, new bi-weekly Antyodaya Express train service has been introduced between Kochuveli and Mangalore.
Union Minister of State for Railways, Shri Rajen Gohain flagged off the inaugural special of Train no. 16355/16356 Kochuveli – Mangaluru Antyodaya Express at a function held at Kochuveli Railway Station.
In his address, the Minister expressed his happiness about the introduction of the new Antyodaya Express Train service connecting Kerala and Karnataka. He stated that Indian Railways has successfully launched Humsafar, Antyodaya, Tejas and Uday rakes besides Deen Dayalu, Anubhuti and Swarn Coaches which are equipped with novel amenities and enhanced safety features and that the new Antyodaya service in Kerala will be a boon for the common man. The Minister lauded the efforts of Southern Railway in expediting various infrastructural projects and electrification of lines over the zone and added that dedicated freight corridor and strengthening of infrastructure would enhance speed and safety
While reiterating the demand for a new train between Trivandrum and Bangalore, Union Minister of State for Tourism, Shri K J Alphons, expressed his thanks to Railway Ministry for introducing the much awaited Antyodaya service in Kerala.
Shri Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Co-operation, Tourism & Devasom; Adv. V K Prasanth, Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram; Shri C P Narayanan, MP; Shri V S Sivakumar, MLA; Shri O Rajagopal, MLA; P K Mishra, Additional General Manager, Southern Railway; and Shirish Kumar Sinha, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram; were among those present on the occasion.
