Thiruvananthapuram Central and Kochuveli Terminals are the major coach caring centres of Trivandrum division which are dealing with about 50 thousand passengers every day. More than four hundred coaches of Mail/Express and passenger trains are being cleaned and made ready for travel daily. The demand for water is about 12 Lakh litres and 3.5 lakh litres for Trivandrum and Kochuveli respectively. The division has been meeting the demand only through KWA supply since there is no water source available with the Railways.
As KWA has curtailed the supply of water to Thiruvananthapuram Central from 18th April and to Kochuveli from 20th April 2017, Railways is finding it extremely difficult to maintain the coaches and watering them. Efforts are being made to fill water in trains at wayside stations where the watering facility is available such as Kottayam and Alappuzha which in turn is causing detention en-route. Passengers are requested to bear with us till the water supply is fully restored.
