Trivandrum: The Railway Board has permitted the restoration of unreserved Second Class Coaches for regular trains similar to the pre-COVID period. The restoration is being done in phases for groups of trains taking into account the ‘Advance Reservation Period’ or ‘Nil Booking Date’ to ensure hassle-free travel for passengers.
In the first phase, the following three pairs of Mail/Express/Superfast trains will operate with Unreserved Coaches as existed in the preCOVID19 period from tomorrow (10th March 2022).
1. Train No. 16525 Kanniyakumari – KSR Bengaluru Island Express leaving Kanniyakumari on 10th March, 2022.
2. Train No. 16526 KSR Bengaluru – Kanniyakumari Island Express leaving KSR Bengaluru on 10th March, 2022.
3. Train No. 12778 Kochuveli – SSS Hubballi Weekly Superfast leaving Kochuveli on 10th March, 2022.
4. Train No. 12777 SSS Hubballi – Kochuveli Weekly Superfast leaving SSS Hubballi on 16th March, 2022.
5. Train No. 12684 Banaswadi – Ernakulam Junction Triweekly Express leaving Banaswadi on 10th March, 2022.
6. Train No. 12683 Ernakulam Junction – Banaswadi Triweekly Express leaving Ernakulam Jn. on 13th March, 2022.
The next group of trains will be earmarked with unreserved accommodation on dates 16th, 20th March, 01st, 16th, 20th of April and 01st of May 2022. Detailed list of trains will be intimated in the coming days.
Important Guidelines for Passengers:
1. Unreserved Tickets will be available from UTS Counters at railway stations for only the specific trains on and from the notified date.
2. For the trains in which Unreserved Coaches are restored, passengers who have taken advance booking in Second Class General/Seating coaches should cancel the ticket for receiving Full-refund as per Reservation Rules.
3. There is no change in the reservation pattern for Higher Classes(viz. Sleeper, AC Coaches) for the trains. Passengers may ignore if any SMS pertaining to the unreserved coaches has been received in their registered mobile number.
