Kottayam: A spacious three-storeyed pilgrim centre that can safely accommodate 900 pilgrim passengers bound for Sabarimala was inaugurated at Kottayam Railway station by Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs, Shri V Muraleedharan on 14th November 2022.
At the inaugural function, Shri R Mukund, Divisional Railway Manager(DRM), Thiruvananthapuram Division described the steps railways took for a safe and pleasant mandala-makaravilakku Sabarimala pilgrimage season this year. KSRTC bus services will be operated from Kottayam railway station premises, for the convenience of pilgrim passengers. RPF will ensure the safety and security of passengers. The Pilgrim Centre is expected to eliminate any chances of crowding on platforms. He also mentioned the new multi-level parking facility for two-wheelers, the unique Kerala traditional facade with thematic lighting and various passenger-oriented developmental works at Kottayam in his welcome address.
