Trivandrum: The Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway conducted Amrit Samvaad, an interactive session between passengers and railway officials, at Chirayinkeezh Railway Station on October 27 and at Thiruvalla Railway Station on October 28. The initiative aims to bring the Railway Administration closer to passengers and rail users through direct interaction and constructive feedback.
Hari Krishnan, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Freight), and Abdul Nizar A, Assistant Health Officer, Thiruvananthapuram Division, Southern Railway, interacted with passengers and rail users at Chirayinkeezh, gathering valuable feedback and suggestions on various passenger amenities and service improvements.
Addressing the gathering, Hari Krishnan highlighted that Chirayinkeezh Railway Station is one of the major stations redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which has transformed the station’s infrastructure and amenities. The redevelopment works include upgraded waiting halls, improved lighting systems, enhanced circulating areas, modern signage, and better accessibility features, all contributing to a more comfortable and passenger-friendly travel experience.
During the interaction, passengers and members of the Chirayinkeezh Railway Passengers Association expressed their appreciation to the Government of India and Southern Railway for the numerous developmental initiatives undertaken at the station. The upgrade works have significantly enhanced passenger amenities and strengthened the station’s position as a key suburban hub in the division.
The association also shared several constructive suggestions for further improvement of facilities and passenger amenities. These community-driven inputs reflect the growing public participation and sense of ownership in the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’s mission to develop clean, accessible, and modern railway stations.
Officials briefed the participants about various initiatives such as the Amrit Bharat Station Redevelopment Scheme, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), UPI-based payment systems, and the UTS on Mobile app.
Students from Mar Thoma College, Thiruvalla, also took part in the event and expressed their thoughts on ‘Swachhata’ (cleanliness) initiatives. Passengers and members of the public expressed their appreciation to the Government of India and Southern Railway for the ongoing developmental and passenger-friendly projects at Thiruvalla Railway Station.
The ‘Amrit Samvaad’ initiative, launched as per the directives of the Railway Board, aims to strengthen public outreach, enhance service delivery, and make railway stations across Southern Railway more responsive and passenger-centric. Earlier, similar sessions have been successfully conducted at Thiruvananthapuram Central and Guruvayur Railway Stations, where enthusiastic participation from students and youth added vibrancy to the discussions, reflecting their growing awareness and engagement with the Railways’ developmental initiatives.
