Kerala gets Budget grant of Rs.3,795 cr for FY 2026-27

New Delhi: Union Minister for Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced the state-wise budgetary allocation for the railway projects in the financial year 2026-27, including the outlay for rail projects in Kerala that fall in the Southern Railway jurisdiction.

The budgetary outlay for rail development projects in Kerala is Rs.3,795 Crores for the year 2026-27. Various infrastructure, station redevelopment and Safety projects costing a total of Rs.18,041 Crores are in progress in the state of Kerala. 35 railway stations in Kerala have been identified for upgradation under the Amrit Station Scheme at a cost of Rs. 2,989 Crores.

Presently, 3 pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains and 3 pairs of Amrit Bharat Express trains are operational in Kerala.

Since 2014, approximately 125 Km of tracks have been constructed in Kerala. The state has achieved 100% electrification with 493 Km of rail lines electrified since 2014. Kavach (Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system), work/tender process is in progress for a distance spanning 107 route kilometres.
