TVC Division completes conversion of railway coaches as isolation wards

Trivandrum: As part of Covid-19 control measures, Indian Railways decided to convert 5000 train coaches into quarantine or isolation wards, amounting to 40,000 beds. As per this arrangement, the Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway was given the target of converting 60 train coaches consisting of 3-tier sleeper class coaches and general coaches (unreserved) by 10th April, 2020.

In view of Corona Virus outbreak, Indian Railways has suspended all types of passenger train services, that is, all Mail/Express trains (including premium trains), passenger trains and suburban trains from 22nd March, 2020 up to 24:00 hours/midnight of 14th April, 2020. All train services to remain suspended till March 31, 2020

New Delhi: Railways have announced that all Passenger/Express/Superfast and Premium train services will remain suspended till March-end, ie 24.00 hrs on 31.03.2020 to strengthen the efforts already taken to contain the spread of COVID-19. Long-distance trains which started on or before 22-03-2020 will be allowed to reach their respective destination.
