Thrissur: Passengers travelling through Thrissur Railway Station will have access to premium branded food and beverage services, with the Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway opening its first Premium Brand Catering Outlet there.
The outlet, operated by Nescafé, marks a significant milestone in the Division’s efforts to modernise station amenities and enhance the passenger experience. The initiative will bring trusted, quality-assured food and beverage products from a nationally recognised brand directly to railway commuters.
Speaking about the initiative, Nithin Norbert, IRTS, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division, said, “Passengers today expect quality, hygiene and trusted brands while travelling. The introduction of Premium Brand Catering Outlets is aimed at meeting these expectations and bringing a modern retail experience to railway stations. The launch at Thrissur is the first step in a wider rollout of premium branded catering services across the Division.” He added that the concept is designed to provide passengers with greater choice, assured quality, improved hygiene and enhanced customer confidence.
Reputed brands or their authorised franchisees operate Premium Brand Catering Outlets and offer standardised food and beverage services at market-comparable prices while adhering to Railway Catering Policy guidelines and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations.
Similar Premium Brand outlets are planned at Aluva, Kottayam, Chengannur and Kollam railway stations in the coming weeks. Restaurant-style Premium Brand Catering outlets are also proposed at Aluva, Alappuzha and Tripunithura railway stations. As part of its broader vision to transform railway stations into vibrant passenger-centric spaces, the Division is also planning innovative initiatives such as Rail Coach Restaurants at Mattanchery and Nagercoil railway stations, offering visitors a distinctive dining experience.
Through these initiatives, Thiruvananthapuram Division continues to strengthen its commitment to providing modern, safe, convenient and customer-friendly services for the travelling public.
