Measures to Improve Catering Services in Indian Railways

New Delhi: Indian Railways is taking several measures to improve catering services on over its network. It is emphasised that improvement of catering being an on-going process. A new Catering Policy has been notified on 27 February, 2017 wherein with the objective to provide quality food to rail passengers, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), a PSU of Ministry of RailwaysRail has been mandated to unbundle catering services on trains by creating a distinction primarily between food preparation and food distribution.

Yard remodelling work at Angamali, trains to be regulated from Aug 4 to 12

Kochi: Railways will be taking modernization/development of Angamali Railway Station Yard from 04th August 2017 to 12th August 2017. The regular schedule of trains passing through Angamali will be regulated as under: Full Cancellation · Train No 56370 Ernakulam Jn – Guruvayoor passenger leaving Ernakulam at 6:00 hrs and its return train as 56375 leaving Guruvayoor at 13:00 hrs will remain fully cancelled on 12th August 2017.

Special trains to Velankanni from Ernakulam and Nagercoil

In order to clear extra rush of passengers during Velankanni Church Festival Southern Railway will run special fare special trains between Ernakulam – Velankanni and Nagercoil – Velankanni as under: Train No 016016 Ernakulam Jn – Velankanni Special Fare Special Train will leave Ernakulam Junction at 21:00 hrs on 31.08.2017 and 07.09.2017 (Thursdays) to reach Velankanni at 10:15 hrs on the following day.
